What’s on your Thanksgiving Table?

Sharing ideas on what to make as well as sharing the workload can start a whole new tradition that leaves everyone thankful.

Thanksgiving is that time of year when we are thankful for family, friends, and the chance to get together to enjoy some fun, laughter, and amazing food. Putting together a Thanksgiving feast can be stressful, overwhelming, and can wreak havoc on our budgets. This year try asking your guests to bring a dish to alleviate some of the workload on yourself (and your budget). In my family, we are asked to bring an appetizer, a side dish, and a dessert.

Here are my Thanksgiving go-to ideas!

Stuffed Mushrooms: Check out Pinterest for hundreds of recipes. Stuffed mushrooms are a big hit at any get-together and Thanksgiving is a great time to make these delicious appetizers! I like to make these because the recipe I use calls for sausage, and I can use the extra sausage for my stuffing. Not only is this a great way to help cut my cost but saves time in the kitchen too!

Crockpot Stuffing: Start with a couple of bags of Holiday Slow Cooker Stuffing – Pepperidge Farm. In addition, I add in diced apples and the extra sausage (already cooked from the stuffed mushrooms. Not only is this crockpot stuffing an easy side to create, but using a crockpot makes traveling with it easier too! Hint: For easy cleanup, I use crockpot liners!

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies: Peanut Butter Cup Cookies Recipe. These cookies are my absolute favorite so I make five batches at Thanksgiving. Why five batches? Because you can use two batches for Thanksgiving and freeze the remaining for Christmas and New Year’s Eve. This will ensure you are spending more time with friends and family and not in your kitchen continuously cooking and baking throughout the entire holiday season.

What traditions do you have? Do you have a favorite appetizer, side, and dessert you’d like to share? I’d love to check out your creations at my own family gatherings. And don’t worry, I’ll give you the credit for sharing your amazing recipes. Just send them to Creynolds@newdimensionsfcu.com and I’ll give ‘em a try.
