New IDCheck Requirement for Shared Branching Begins May 1

Starting May 1, 2025, a new layer of identity protection will be required for out-of-state members using Shared Branching at any Maine credit union branch, including here at New Dimensions FCU. If you’re visiting from out of state and plan to use Shared Branching, you’ll need to complete an IDCheck verification to proceed with your transaction.

This new security feature is being rolled out statewide to help reduce fraud and protect personal and financial information, especially as we enter the busy travel season. Maine is a top vacation destination, so more guest members will be accessing their accounts on the go, and this extra step ensures everyone’s funds stay secure.

How IDCheck Works

Before or upon arriving at a participating Shared Branch location, follow these quick steps at verify.coop.org:

  1. Enter your home credit union’s name or select it from the dropdown.
  2. Input your Member Number and the last four digits of your SSN.
  3. Upload a photo of your government-issued ID (front and back).
  4. Snap a selfie for live identity matching.
  5. Receive a unique verification code (valid for 20 minutes).
  6. Show the code to the teller to complete your transaction.

Your ID and selfie are securely stored for future use, so once you’re set up, the next visit is even easier.
