April is National Credit Union Youth Month

April 1st marks the start of National Credit Union Youth Month. We celebrate youth month by offering fun learning activities throughout our local schools. We also have a savings challenge for all youth savings accounts opened in April. New this year is our Facebook Youth Trivia, so be sure to join us, and as always, we have prizes and giveaways to encourage healthy financial habits.

National Savings Challenge: All youth members who make a deposit in April will be entered in the Credit Union National Association Savings Challenge drawing for a chance to win $100.00. Winners will be drawn in May. Additionally, all members under 18 who open a new youth savings account will receive a LEGO bank.

Facebook Trivia: Like us on Facebook, and watch for our weekly youth trivia questions throughout April. We will post financial-related trivia questions on our Facebook each Friday morning, and all individuals under 18 who answer the question correctly by the end of the day on the following Thursday will win swag items available for pick up at their chosen branch location. Correct entries will also be put into a drawing for a $50 VISA Gift Card, which will be drawn the second week of May.

Education: Our certified financial coach will visit local schools with hands-on financial education activities. These activities will be specific to the grade level and help show the importance of financial wellness in a fun and interactive way. We will have activities such as “Grow Your Money” for Kindergarten-6th graders, vision boards for 7th & 8th grade, and “How to be a Savvy Shopper” for high schoolers.

As a financial institution, we understand the power of financial education and the importance of introducing it to students at the earliest age possible. We are excited to be celebrating our youth in April with the life-changing tool of financial literacy!
