Surviving Black Friday!

Planning is the Secret to Success

Black Friday is coming and with the arrival of this famous shopping day, comes the major sales we wait all year to get! We found out that is predicting that consumers will spend almost $12.3 billion this year, with the average American spending approximately $504.

Before venturing out to find your best deals, we have some helpful tips for you:

  1. Make a list. The deal might be fabulous but don’t be tempted to stray from your list. If it’s not on the list, you’re spending unplanned money. Your list should include who you’re buying for and what you’re buying them—this will keep you on track so you’re not overspending.
  2. Do your research. Reading the fine print on the sale items (doorbusters, early-bird specials, or limited quantities) will make sure you can get that item you’re looking for at the advertised price. Comparing prices and item details with many retailers will allow you to make sure you are getting the best deal for your money. Don’t forget that sales don’t stop on Friday. Saturday is Small Business Saturday and of course, there will be great deals on Cyber Monday.
  3. Plan your route. Save gas and time! When planning your route, consider traffic, long checkout lines, location of stores (the ones you’ve already researched to have the best deal on your item), and be sure to factor in mealtime if you plan on eating out. If not, packing snacks and drinks will help save time and money. Every store will have something extra discounted to entice people to be there early, just make sure it’s on your list and fits in your budget!
  4. Get your team together. Enlist the help of your family and friends. These teammates can help get past those limited quantities and search out those great deals. They can help you stay on budget and stick to your list. Also, who doesn’t like to go shopping with friends? The more the merrier, right?

We hope you have a great time while you are shopping because this is the time of year for relationship building and memory-making.
